- Jury in Valdez, Alaska, finds Capt. Elbridge T. Barnette not guilty of embezzlement. Barnette was formerly president of the defunct Washington-Alaska Bank, Fairbanks. He will be now tried on an indictment charging wrongful conversion of funds of the bank.
