- The Chicago-based Illinois Policy Institute audited the websites of 24 local government agencies and determined that 20 of them failed the "Local Transparency Project." The websites were examined for the availability of information such as budgets, pulic records, financial audits, taxes, lobbying, salaries and benefits. The agency hopes the project will motivate citizens to seek to have local governments make more information public.
