Notes
Edward W. Parker, the government coal statistician with the United States Geological Survey issued a statement giving information and statistics, including monetary value of coal production in the United States since 1910. Production this year and last year was close behind large output in 1910. Production was down because iron and steel trade was depressed in 1911. There was a decrease in the production of bitumious coal compared with 1910. However, the loss was made up by an increase in the production of anthracite. Parker also gave information production by men employed in coal mines of the United States.
