Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hathaaway, 821 Forest avenue, have been enjoying a visit from their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Myers of Barstow, California, who were on their way to Washington, D.C.

Miss Mabel Mason has returned to her home at 2235 Harrison street after spending two weeks as the guest of Mrs. Fannie Britton of Thayer street, and left Saturday for Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Holt Hughes of San Francisco, California, the guest of the family of the Rev. Edgar Blake, 612 Church street, is en route for school at Wilbraham, Mass. His sister, Miss Isabel Holt of De Pauw University, was at Willard Hall, attending the Kappa Kappa Gamma Convention.

Miss Rachel Hamilton of St. Paul, Minn., who has been visiting her grandmother,Mrs. G.A. Bennett, 843 Judson avenue, for two months, has gone for a visit to Lake City, Minn., on her way home.

Mrs. Wellington Cobb, 1111 Maple avenue, entertained Mrs. L. H. Tobey, Mrs. D. L. Cole, Mrs. J.M. Lewis and Mrs. Fred McGuire to luncheon last Tuesday and in the afternoon they attended the Matinee.

Mrs. John Reading, 5520 Davis street, left Wednesday for northern Michigan. She will visit Sault Ste. Marie and to Manistique. At the latter place she will visit her daughter, Mrs. O.C. Coleman, and will be gone two weeks.

A very beautiful hand-carved tinted bas-relief plaque of terra cotta of Rest Cottage and the National W.C.T.U. headquarters is on display in Lord's store. Mr. Lord sent to England and had these made.

Mr.and Mrs. A. C. Townsend of Wilson avenue, who have been occupying the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fred James, 239 Greenwood boulevard, returned Friday to their Chicago home, while Mr.and Mrs. James' family came home from Plum Lake, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Charles William Spofford, 2242 Orrington avenue, entertained her mother, Mrs. Emma Merville of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last week. Wednesday afternoon she entertained informally in her mother's honor. There were about fifteen ladies present of about Mrs. Merville's age. Dainty refreshments were a feature of the afternoon.

Mrs. Walter S. Primley, 903 Forest avenue, is entertaining her brother, Mr. Frederick Grumm, of Montreal, Canada, who will be her guest for three weeks. Thursday evening last, Mrs. Primley entertained in her brother's honor to a dinner. Covers were laid for six. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Primley and Mr. Grurrmm motored to Edgewater and remained over Sunday, the guest of Miss Cora Vawter.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Kattelle of Boston, Mass., are occupying the home of Mrs. Ruth D. McKenzie during the latter's absence at Metamora, Michigan. Mrs. McKenzie is now at Grosse Point, near Detroit. Miss McKenzie will return at the opening of school to take charge of her department. Mrs. McKenzie will not return until Oct. 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Kattelle came here July 15 to take charge of a draughting room in the First National bank building, Chicago, for Lockwood, Green & Co. of Boston, architects and engineers for industrial plants.

Thursday evening about forty young friends of Miss Myrtle Dunn, 1016 Lake street, the Misses Anna and Edith Deane, ascting as spoksmen, met at Miss Dunn's home and gave a suprise party and miscellaneous shower in her honor, her wedding being set for September aa. Games and refreshments were a delightful feature of the evening.

Miss Mae Traxler, 711 Emerson street, left Monday to teach Latin and algebra in the Beardstown, Illinois, high school the coming year.

Miss Ida M. Rickey of Park place returned Saturay from a lake trip to Duluth and Port Arthur. On the way home she spent several days at Mackinac.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Howard McConnell, 1319 Church street, gave a dinner Friday evening in honor of Mr. J.W. Harris of New York. Covers were laid for nine.

Miss Genevieve Steigelman, 1113 Sherman avenue, has returned from a delightful trip to Niagara Falls and New York City. She was gone ten days. Her sister, Mrs. Arthur Morby, accompanied her on the trip.

Mrs. Virgil Stephens, 1016 Ayars place, went to Berwyn, Illinois, Monday to reside. Her husband, Prof. Stephens, graduated from Northwestern in 1908, and from 1909 to 1911 has been professor of biology in a college at Marshall, Mo. This year he enters Northwestern Medical school to become a physician. Mrs. Stephens will teach in the high school at Berwyn.

A wedding of interest in North Evanston was that of Miss Bessie May Brochon, 1728 Livingston street, to Mr. William Charles Sonnen, 2614 Harrison street, yesterday at the bride's parents' home. Miss Marie Hansen of Evanston was maid of honor. Miss Eleanor Longfellow of San Diego, California, was the bridesmaid. Miss Helen Sonnen played the wedding march. The little Misses Barbara Sonnen, Margaret and Anna May Blackburn of Evanston and Dorothy Clark of Winnetka stretched the ribbons, Mr. William Edmund Brochon gave his sister away and Mr. Robert Sonnen, the groom's brother, was best man.

Miss Ethel Hyde, 2142 Maple avenue, and about twenty-five young friends gave a beach party Thursday evening at the foot of Cook street in honor of her sister, Miss Flora Hyde, who will go away as a foreign missionary in November. The party was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Horace G. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Charles French. A moonlight night in mid-summer, a cool lake breeze roughing the wave sufficiently to require a windbreak, a cove of two boats, and a happy crowd of young ladies and gentlemen toasting marshmallows, eating wieners and prophesying long dreams of the future was the record of the evening.
