Arthur J. Taylor, 58, general manager of the American Slicing Machine company, and a resident of Wilmette for more than twenty years, died Saturday of appendicitis at the West Side hospital, Chicago.
Mr. Taylor, who was well known on the north shore, had taken a prominent part in various community activities. Last December he was elected a member of the New Trier High school Board of Education, filing the vacancy caused by the death of Leslie F. Gates. Both of his sons are New Trier graduates. The flag at New Trier was at half mast Tuesday, the day of the burial. Mr. Taylor was a director of the Wilmette State bank and past master of Wilmette lodge No. 931, A. F. & A. M., and past high priest of Wilmette chapter No. 253, R. A. M.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Medinah temple, the Chicago Chamber of Commerce, the Union League club, the North Shore Golf club, the Eastern Star, and the Delta Tau Delta fraternity of DePauw university from which school he was graduated. He made his home at 835 Central avenue, Wilmette.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Lida W. Taylor, two sons, Frederick W. and Arthur C., both of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. W. F. Baggett, also of Chicago.
Masonic funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Wilmette Masonic temple and burial took place at Memorial Park cemetery.- Featured Link
