Mrs. Gertrude Thurston for 31 years supervisor of New Trier Township, died Wednesday, June 8, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Helen Monahan, in Evanston. Mrs. Thurston retired in 1945 from the office of township supervisor. From 1916 until 1940, she also served the Village of Winnetka as police woman, in charge of juvenile cases. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Monahan, Mrs. Jack Anderson of Evanston, and Mrs. Isabel Beverly of Elgin. Memorial services were held for Mrs. Thurston in the Winnetka Congregational Church on Friday, June 10.
