Mrs. Dora M. Von Glahn, one of Wilmette's pioneer residents, died at her home, 1114 Lake avenue last Saturday at the age of 68 years. Her death came suddenly, although she had been confined to her bed for several weeks. Mrs. Von Glahn was born in Pleasant Prairie township in Wisconsin on the present site of the new town of Chiwaukee. She spent her girlhood there. The original homestead, where she was born, is now almost one hundred years old. It stands on what is now Sheridan road and is occupied. Forty-one years ago Mrs. Von Glahn and her husband moved to Wilmette from Chicago, where they had lived for some time after their marriage. Mr. Von Glahn died thirty-two years ago. The home where Mrs. Von Glahn first lived in Wilmette is still standing at 1112 Central avenue. For many years Mrs. Von Glahn has been a communicant of St. Augustine's Episcopal church, and the funeral services were held from that church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. The Rev. Hubert Carleton, rector of the church, officiated. Burial took place at Kenosha, Wis. Mrs. Von Glahn was well known in Wilmette and she leaves a wide circle of friends.
