- Former North Shore resident Margaret Carney Schaefer died Jan. 2 in Phoenix, Ariz. She was 93.
Mrs. Schaefer was born in Glencoe.
Her late husband, Al M. Schaefer, who died in 1975, was a postman in Wilmette his entire career.
Survivors include a son, William A. (Geraldine) Schaefer of Tucson; three daughters, Joanne (Arthur) Whitney of Phoenix, Helen (Thomas) Shantz of Winnetka and Margaret (William) Valaski of Phoenix; 29 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, James A. (Patricia) Schaefer.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
