- Axle B. Johnson of Wilmette died May 8 at Evanston Hospital at the age of 83. Mr. Johnson and his wife, Ruth, ran the Wilmette Laundrette for seven years, 1951 to 1958. Mr. Johnson came to Chicago from Sweden in 1926. After arriving in the United States he changed his hame from Johansson to Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Arlene Melton; grandchildren Cheryl Tague, Deborah Behm, Robert, Laura, Christine, and David Melton; a sister, Lillie Tropp; a brother, Harry Johansson; a sister and brother and their families living in Sweden; 10 great-grandchldren; and three nieces and one nephew. Burial was in Arlington Heights.
