- Joseph J. Engels, 96,a lifetime resident of Wilmette and Gross Point, died Aug.22 at Normandy House in Wilmette. For 30 years he owned Wilson Bakery in Wilmette, which was the first to bake Girl Scout cookies. Rose F. Schinler Engels, his wife, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Grace (the late Arthur) Braun of Wilmette and Audrey (Robert) Daggett of Minnesota; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass was said Aug. 24 at St. Joseph Church in Wilmette with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
