- House of the Good Shepherd, established in 1859, has been carrying on a ministry for women, girls and families in Chicago. Since 1980 it has served survivors of domestic violence. On November 2 the organization's Women's Board held its 96th annual brunch and auction raising $176,000. Photos of local residents attending the event.
