- Mary Ellen Elia, a resident of Wilmette, died Feb. 20 at the Hospice of the North Shore. Mrs. Elia (nee Meehan) was born in Chicago on July 15, 1938. Survivors include her husband of more than 44 years, Thomas N. Elia of Wilmette; her son Thomas P. Elia of Austin, Texas; her daughter, Suzanne (John) Stephan of Capron, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jacqueline Rose, John Thomas and Samuel Elia Stephan of Capron, Ill.; her mother Ethel Meehan of Chicago; four sisters, Ethel (the late Robert) Draper of Oak Park, Carol (Frank) Reiser of Wild Rose, Wis., Nancy (Jack) Volkman of Centennial, Colo., and Kathy Meehan of Grayslake; one brother, David Meehan of Grayslake; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Edward Leahy Meehan and her brother, Edward Leahy Meehan, Jr.
