James Evans dies at home of son, Dr. R. M. Evans

James Evans, father of Dr. Ralph M. Evans, of 2746 Reese avenue, Evanston, with offices at 1150 Wilmette avenue, Wilmette, died at the home of his son, Tuesday evening, April 13, at 9:30 o'clock. His health had been failing for the past two months, death being due to a complication of ailments.
Mr. Evans, for the past eleven years, had lived with his son in Evanston, but last November went to Pine Bluff, Ark., to remain indefinitely with another son, Joseph W. Evans, and returned from the South only a week ago last Sunday, when Dr. Evans went to St. Louis Lewis to meet him.
Mr. Evans was born at Scottville, Ill., Nov. 22, 1852. For many years he was engaged in the profession of teaching in the public schools of Illinois. William A. Evans, who for a number of years was president of the Illinois State Normal at Bushnell, was his brother.
The surviving members of the immediate family, in addition to Dr. Evans, of Evanston, are Joseph W. Evans, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; Harry D. Evans, of Joplin, Mo., where also resides his only daughter, Mrs. Mamie Pflug.
Two brothers, David H. and Wyman and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie A. Johnson, and Mrs. Mae Garrison reside at Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of Dr. Evans on Reese street, b the Rev. George P. Magill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, of Wilmette. Burial was at Memorial Park cemetery.- Featured Link
