- Police chiefs and village managers from Glencoe, Winnetka, Northfield, Wilmette and Kenilworth have held preliminary discussions on the concept of sharing police and fire dispatch services. They have hired a consultant to study the ways the towns could share the cost of rapidly changing technology. In Wilmette, the study has postphoned plans to improve the police dispatch center with the help of a $1.50 per month telephone line surcharge approved by voters in November 2002. Discussion of the potential costs of the system.
