Mrs. Edgar Foster Alden of Winnetka returned last Saturday from Greensboro, N. C., where she was called by the sudden death of her brother, Robert G. Smith. Mr. Smith who was about 68 years old, was found shot to death at his home on the old Smith family estate a short distance from Greensboro on September 6, between 1 and 4 o’clock in the afternoon. A bullet had pierced the back of his neck and when found he was lying with his face on the floor. Officials of Guilford county, in which Greensboro is located, after investigating all clues thoroughly announced that they were still mystified as to who fired the shot that killed Smith. The funeral services were held in a Greensboro funeral chapel Sunday, September 8, with Dr. Charles F. Meyers, of the First Presbyterian church, of Greensboro, officiating.
