Requiem high mass for Frank Alles, 89, pioneer resident of Winnetka and former resident of Wilmette, who died March 27 at St. Anne's Home in Techny, was said Friday morning of last week at St. Joseph's Church in Wilmette. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Alles was the son of John Alles who came when he was 12 years old with his parents, Wendell and Margaret Alles from Trier, Germany in 1835 to this country and settled in the southwest part of what is now Winnetka. Frank Alles was born in 1861 across the street from 763 Hill Road, the home which was built 86 years ago and where his sister, Mary Magdalene now lives. Frank Alles, whose wife, the late Barbara Schildgen, died in 1939, lived at 1636 Lake Avenue, Wilmette for about 36 years. In addition to his sister, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. William J. Schneider of Evanston; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
