- Winnetka ticket agents, Ernest Heifner and Gary Ades, were blindsided August 10 when Union Pacific Railroad Co. said it was eliminating their jobs at the village's request. Winnetka Village President Michael Duhl sent a letter to Union Pacific in June which said the village and Metra were planning to remodel the station and asked if the company planned to keep the agents in Winnetka. Duhl said the village was simple seeking direction as it considers various designs, not requesting the removal of the agents.
