David Sloan, railroad leader, taken by death

David Sloan, former chief engineer for the Illinois Central railroad, died last Sunday [25 Jun 1933] at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T.H. Fullerton, 408 Central avenue, Wilmette. Burial took place on Tuesday at Granville, Ohio. Mr. Sloan would have been 86 years old on July 4. He was born in 1847 in Ireland. Besides the daughter in Wilmette and the son, W. G. Sloan, at Princeton, Mr. Sloan is survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Four of the grandchildren live on the northshore. They are Fred S. Rye of Wilmette, Mr. Brower Munroe of Kenilworth and Thomas Hunter Fullerton and David Fullerton of Wilmette. The other four grandchildren are Robert Rye of Montclair, N.J. [New Jersey], and David, William and Hugh Sloan of Princeton, N.J. Mrs. Fred A. Rye (Carolyn Sloan Rye), a daughter of Mr. Sloan, who had been a resident of Wilmette for twenty years, died on April 3, at Montclair, N.J.
