He married Marge Abrahms in 1947. He married Dori Strong in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Dori; two sons, Steven (Marianna) and James (Michelle); two grandchildren, Michael and Claire; one stepson, Allen (Nancy) Strong; one step daughter, Kimberlee Ann (Bill) Moir; and six step-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Marge Abrahms.
