Mrs. Anna Louise Schopen, 88, of 2450 Waukegan road, Northfield, formerly of Wilmette, died Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. John (Genevieve) Thornhill of Hampshire, Ill. She was the widow of John Schopen, the original lamplighter for Wilmette. Mrs. Schopen was born in Germany and came to Wilmette at the age of 12. She moved to Northfield to reside with her son, George. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Laurence (Katherine) Steffens of Evanston, Mrs. Frank (Louise) Hlavacek of 235 Ridge road, and Mrs. Walter (Helen) Scheuber of 623 Prairie avenue, both of Wilmette; and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Thornhill of Carpentersville, Ill.; a son, Anthony of 2233 Lake avenue, Wilmette; 27 grandchildren; and 58 great-grandchildren. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Techny.
