- William Foster "Bill" Babcock died Dec. 29, 2004, at the Mather Pavilion in Evanston. He was 86.
Mr. Babcock was born June 29, 1918, and raised in south Evanston. He was the son of Richard Fayerweather Babcock and Anita Joy Biggs Babcock, a granddaughter of Civil War General Herman Biggs.
Mr. Babcock is survived by his wife of 61 years: Margaret "Midge" Burke Allen; five children, Anita (Mike Harper), Barbara Clune (fiancé Laurence McIntyre), Martha Cecelia (Haralambos Pafralides), William F. Babcock Jr. (Tracy Webster), and Richard F. Babcock II (Renatta Delfino); his only brother, Richard F. Babcock Jr. (Gloria); 12 grandchildren; sister-in-law Cecelia Allen McGrain; brother in-law John G. Allen (Shirley); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
