- Eleanor Costello won the Senior flight of the 12th annual Girls Match Play Championships at White Eagle Golf Club in Naperville last Thursday. Michael Slovitt of Winnetka claimed a spot in the Illinois State Amateur Tournament during Friday's qualifying tournament held at Nettle Creek in Morris. Pat O'Connell of Northbrook outscored Jacob Wagner of Wilmette at the Illinois Junior Golf Association tournament held Friday at Bristol's Blackberry Oaks Country Club in the Junior division. Matthew Haller of Winnetka earned a top three finish in the boys 12-13 age group at a YDP tournament at Arlington L akes Golf Course July 19. Also competing in that event were McKennan Tucker of Winnetka, Steven Petchenik of Glenview, Conor Fox of Winnekta and David Berlinghof of Northfield. In the boys 10-11 competition, Drew Langan of Winnetka tied for third place. Nicholas McCall of Winnetka also placed in the top 10. Jack Cornelo of Winnetka scored a 79. In the girls 10-11 portion of the tournament, second place went to Dana Gullen of Winnetka. Two local girls, Eleanor Costello of Wilmette and Brittany Rendell of Winnetka have been selected third team All-Americans by the Future Collegiate World Tour organization.
