- Scott Segal, a sophomore, will likely be on the varsity team this fall based on his performance in the Illinois Junior Golf Association Junior Player of the Year competition. Local girls Kelsey O'Neal of Glenview, Alana Swain of Kenilworth, Christina Riley of Winnetka, Avery Connelly of Kenilworth, Elizabeth Kibler of Kenilworth, Emily Nelson of Winnetka, Nora Lucas of Glenview and Claire Costello of Wilmette participated in the 10th annual Maggie Rogers Invitational July 25 at the Inverness Golf Club in Palatine; Competing in the IJGA regional event at Sportsman's Country Club in Northbrook were Dex Reese of Glenview, Mike Nelson of Wilmette, Thomas Buley of Wilmette, Will Ford of Winnetka, Jacob Roche of Wilmette, Charles Haskins of Glenview, James Walsh of Winnetka, Leo Radosavljevic of Wilmette, Ryan Brennan of Winnetka, Chase Michalek of Glenview, Dan McCallum of Northfield, Jack Pierce of Winnetka, Patrick Murtaugh of Winnetka, Andrew Buchanan of Glenview and Steven Gutzmer of Wilmette. Among the girls was Mary Collins of Kenilworth and Kelley Brennan of Winnetka; Competing at an IJGA event in Bensenville on Thursday were Adam Wolf of Glenview, Patrick Murtaugh of Winnetka, and Jacob Roche of Wilmette and James Walsh of Winnetka; Jacob Wagner of Wilmette claimed third place in the junior division of an IJGA regional event Thurssday in Nettle Creek Country Club in Morris. Also participating were Mike Nelson of Wilmette and Bill Montross of Wilmette; Local players participated in other regional IJGA tournaments including Connor O'Halleran of Winnetka and Sean Cleary of Winnetka at Marengo Ridge Golf and Country Club; Three Youth Development Program tournaments were conducted at area courses last week and several local competitors scored top finishes: McKennan Tucker of Winnetka, Steven Petchenik of Glenview, Chris Potter of Winnetka, Molly Hulseman of Winnetka, Melanie Chaiyakam of Glenview, Jack Cornelo of Winnetka, Drew Langan of WInnetka, Kyle Van Balen of Wilmette, Isabelle Kane of Winnetka, Taylor Gentzkow of WInnetka, Nicholas Mccall of Winnetka, Jesse Arnold of Winnetka and Chip Potter of Winnetka.
