- Alumna of Regina Dominican High School, Wilmette architect Carol Ross Barney, credits school counselor for her career as an architect. Barney is a design principal at Ross Barney + Jankowski, and has won the 2005 American Institute of Architects' Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. Barney's firm led the design of the new Oklahoma City Federal Campus to replace the building destroyed by a bomb in 1995. She is also deigning the new technology building at Oakton Community College and the new Jewish Reconstructinist Synagogue in Evanston.
