About twenty minutes later a 12-foot Sunfish tried to make the harbor. According the the Coast Guard, One of the two people aboard, Peter Ray, was thrown overboard by he waves. His 13-year-old son, Sam, took control of he boat and steered it away from the harbor, beaching it on the nearby shore. He was not injured.
