- James J. Allen, of Northbrook, formerly of River Forest, husband of the late Helen Peters Allen, died January 21, 2011. He is survived by his children Beth (Allyn) Brooks of Glenview, Timothy (Barbara) Allen of Birmingham, MI and Mary (James) Kirkland of Egan, MN; grandfather of seven and great grandfather of four; brother of Clotilda Cantwell of Colorado Springs, CO. James and his brothers owned and operated Allen Tiling Co. of Chicago started by their father, Charles A. Allen.
