Clarence studied engineering, history, and business at the University of Chicago where he met his wife, Jean Steffen Smith. He later became a Certified Public Accountant and spent his entire working career in the accounting field with some of Chicago's most prestigious firms. His wife, Jean, was a wonderful cook, and Clarence often hiked the streets of Evanston, getting his daily dose of exercise. In addition he was an avid reader and kept up with current events by reading the Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times of London every day, right up to the end. His wife, Jean, and son, Colin both died within the past three years. Clarence is survived by his former daughter in law, Beth Formiller, and his cousins from Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bettle, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bettle. He will be buried with his wife in Antigo, WI.
