- Plans are being made for establishing a new village, Clay, west of Evanston. John Le Bohn presided with associate, Nick Brosius, who has a record of illicit sale of liquor. The sale of liquor was one topic discussed. Otto Ryden of Evanston addressed legal question having to do with the new village. He said it would be impossible to sell liquor in the village because Northwestern University's charter said no liquor could be sold within four miles of the school. Ryden said enforcement of this law is the responsiblilty of the police. There was also a discussion about getting water for the new village and Rydan said it would come from the city of Chicago. The next issue was school for children; Ryden said Clay residents would attend Evanston schools. One of the attendees was Adolf Lauf, who was recently fined for running a "blind pig" (illegal liquor store).
