A memorial service for New Trier junior Christopher Wagner was held last week at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview.

The 16-year-old teenager died unexpectedly July 7 at his home, according to school officials who on Saturday sent an e-mail to inform New Trier parents.

“It’s been devastating for his family, his friends and our students. Our concern is providing support for his family, our students and staff who are affected by Chris’s death,” said New Trier Superintendent Linda Yonke.

New Trier’s Crisis Response Network was available last week to provide support to people who need it at the Winnetka Campus.

“Chris was a vibrant student who had a strong network of family and friends,” said Timothy A. Dohrer, principal of the Winnetka Campus. “Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
