- The Women's Christian Temperence Union honored president, Lillian M. N. Stevens, Fri., March 1, at their headquarters, 1730 Chicago Ave., Evanston. This was her birthday. Stevens succeeded Frances E. Willard as president. Willard passed away in 1898. Prior to the death of Willard, Stevens served as vice-president of W.C.T.U. The current vice-president is Miss Anna A. Gordon. March 1, is also important because President Taft vetoed the Kenyon-Webb bill which prohibits the shipment of intoxicants into prohibition states, but Congress is expected to pass the bill over the veto.
