- Dr. W. C. Chidester, formerly of Evanston, and currently of San Mateao, Cal., has been appointed general superintendent and overseer of a new hospital being built in San Mateo. Mrs. Whitelaw Reid, widow of the late ambassador to the our of St. James donated the $100,000 for construction in memory of her father, Mr. D. O. Mills. Dr. and Mrs. Chidester have been in Evanston recently, as guests of his mother, Mrs. Mary C. Chidester, 608 Church St.. The Chidesters are on their way home from a trip through Eastern cities where Dr. Chidester was getting information on leading hospitals. Dr. and Mrs. Chidester left Evanston Sun. to visit the Mayo Clinic. While staying in Evanston, Dr. paid daily visits to clinics conducted by Dr. Murphy at the Mercy Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Chidester moved out of Evanston eight years ago, after graduating from the Ohio Medical College. He established his practice in San Mateo, where he engaged the attention of Mrs. Whitlaw Reid.
