Scribner Sr. of Winnetka is heading a newly-created nonpartisan committee of real estate men supporting P. J. Cullerton (D) for re-election as Cook County assessor. Mr. Scribner, chairman of Scribner and Co., Chicago, is a former president of the Chicago Real Estate Board. Known as an expert in local assessment procedures, Mr. Scribner was an early proponent of the new staggered system of spreading the quadrennial reassessment of real estate over a four-year period. Mr. Scribner has been a board member of International Business Machines Corp., the New York Life Insurance Co., and the First National Bank of Chicago. Mr. Cullerton will be honored as a winner of the Donkey Club "Man of the Year" award Saturday. The Democratic club will present the award to the assessor at a party starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion restaurant in Northbrook. Christian Scientists Will Hear Ex-Reporter Speak on Oct. 29 "Is There A God?" will be discussed at the Oct. 29 service of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Wilmette. The speaker will be Ralph W. Cessna, a Christian S c i e n c e teacher on tour as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. An Evanston Mr. Cessna resident, he will discuss mankind's growth toward a deeper understanding of the nature of God and how it relates to spiritual healing. The service will begin at 8 p.m. Mr. Cessna worked as a newspaper reporter in Michigan and Florida before joining the Christian Science Monitor in 1929.
