Kahler, dean of boys at New Trjer High school, was made temporary president at that time. Mr. Kahler rectntly has been made permanent president of the organization, and Mr. Wiebe, of Morton High school. is :;ecretary. · Schools which are members of the league may compete with non-member schools H they wish, according to Mr. Kahler, but in getteral the interscholastic athletic activities of the six schools in the league will be confined to contests among the members. Officials at all athletic events sponsored by the league will be chosen from the faculties of one · of the member schools. Purpose· of League The main purposes and objectives of the new league are stated in the preamble to it~ constitution, which says in part: "What is the fundamental principal of interscholastic athletics? However great the interest in, and the demand for, such athletics on the grounds of entertainment, excitemeht, and pubJicity may be, the only fundamentally valid justification for an extensive athletic program is that of health. It is, then, the policy of this suburban league to utilize these interests and demands to further the promotion of student health through physical activity. To this end, greater participation, wider competition, and an increased number of sports arc planned among the schools forming the membership of the league." Lawns Are 60 Feet Deeper and 40Feet Wider---lnbtau i!lill Estntt!l The old Gage homestead at Sheridan road and Chestnut street, Wilmette, erected many years ago when wild game hereabout was yet available for the family meal has now been converted into the Old Style Inn, where Carl G. Fleig, proprietor, is featuring game, fowl, steaks, chicken and fish dinners. Extensive remodeling operations, including the installation of an immense refrigerating plant and the converting of both the first and second floors into rooms of various sizes for the accommo:lation of private parties, clubs and societies, has been completed. The place is under the management of Harry Hammesfahr, whose dinner menus are featured with such tempting viands as mallard duck, elk, deer, buffalo, bear, moose, chicken, steaks and fish, and at popular prices, it is announced. Ample parking space for cars of patrons has been provided, with yard attendant and an edict of "no tips." Mr. Fleig, the new proprietor of Old Style Inn, has had years of experience in this country, as well as in Europe, in catering to a discriminating public. Mr. Hammesfahr has had 30 years of Chicago loop catering experience, two of which, more recently, have been with the club of Lodge No. 4, B. P . 0. E. (Elks.) Mr. and Mrs. William Holmes of 622.
