WILMETTE LIFE, FRIDAY, MAY 2, 1924 17 AUTOMOBILE SECTION. 449 1341 CHEVROLET.OUT WITH NEW ONE Touring De Luxe Is Latest Production Automobile dealers throughout the country are reporting, it is said, an ama zingly strong demand among motori~ ts this Spring for color in cars, and ~ 1 Kcia l or sport equipment. · To meet this demand quickly, the Chevrolet Motor company has added to it · standard line of cars a new modelthe Touring De Luxe-which is now on display in the showrooms at 1103 Chicago avenue,. Evanston. Referring to this addition to the line, :\larch Wells o f the Wells-Wescott company says : "The new Chevrolet Touring De Luxe is not only a smart looking car but the manufacturers have put really startling values into it. At its price it cannot be compared with anything approaching it in engineering -quality, finish, special equipment, and appearance. "The chassis is identical with that of the powerful, economical standard Chevrolet Touring. The body is hand finished by Fisher in gray-blue, with cardinal triple striping, the steel disc wheels being given the same color treatment. It has special gray top lining to harmonize with the finish, and ornamental door handles. The upholstery is in grayblue whale grain Fabrikoid. Additional special equipment includes full nickled radiator shell, nickled bumpers front and rear, plate glass windshield wings, motometer and nickled cap with bars, cowl lamps, rubber-covered running boa r~s with aluminum guard plates, and steenng wheeel with lock and nickled arms. "The effect of the special finish and equipment is to give this car long lines, an~ the beauty and snap of a highpnced custom-made automobile, but with a much greater eventual trade-in value because it is a standard Chevrolet." MORE CLUBS PLAN UNION WITH A. A. A. Representatives three states of the union, appointed by delegates to the National Motorists association convention, held last week in Chicago, along with six of the original committee, met recently in Columbus, Ohio and considered the proposition of consolidating with the American Automobile association. The committee of fifteen appointed by the A. A. A. also met in Columbus recently and the two committees joined forces to thrash over all demands, and counter-demands of the two national bodies. Each of these committees was vested with power to act by its respective organization. The action of the N. M. A. convention in Chicago, virtually rescinded the action of the committee which started peace negotiations recently in Washington. ] udge Meals, president, and Fred C. Caley, secretary, admitted to the convention that they had acted voluntarily and that their action was unofficial. The large committee representing all states, was then chosen by the convention, with power to act. This committee may agree to a consolidation or it may reject the offers of the A. A. A. committee. Illinois c~bs affiliated with the Illinois State Automobile association, are represented at this confl!rence by Theo. J. Schmitz, president of the association and head of· the Elgin Motor club. The virtual rescinding of the Washington agreement was a victory for the states holding out for official action rather than the unofficial agreement made in Washington. - ·· from twenty FOR ECONOMICAL TRANSPORTATION rcH~EYROlET~ I II _,, The Car the People Want In 1922 more than 200% more Chevrolets were built than in 1921. Increased chassis length, low-swung body and generous seat depth have much to do with this. Primarily, however, it must be accredited to the greater buoyancy of the new spring equipment.
