Glencoe Harbora Finest Chow Chow Kennels in All A~merica at Mrs. H. Earl Hoover'·· Manchoover Kennels House Many Prize Winnera At the Manchoover Kennels, 1801 Green Bay road, there is a company of the most distinguished aristocrats of the fashionable and expensive ChowChow world. Owned by Mrs. H. Earl Hoover, Manchoover Kennels are known throughout America and Europe as the finest Chow.Chow kennels in America. Grouped in the kennels are a number of the most famous prize winners who have graced the benches in the principal canine exhibits in all ,parts of the country. Fourteen of the dogs are importations from the best British kennels but the remainder of the forty odd dogs at Manchoover are of domestic breeding. Pe~haps the finest dog in the kennels 1s Champion Victorious of Tien Hsia, an imported dog who made hi~ c~ampionship i~ only three weeks, wmnmg two five-pomt shows in two days from fields of over sixty competitors. Champion Victorious is a red Chow of tremendous bone and exceptional breed characteristics. Many authorities have judged him the finest Ch.o~ - Chow in the country, which op1mon was borne out when judges in the Annual Specialty Show of the Cho~-Chow Club of America, the claSSJc of all Chow shows held in New York in January, aw~rded him th e show championship. Many Win Trophies be lari,Y noted for the advanced ~ethods are followed there. George .Dav1e, f<?r fifteen years a famous Chow handler m England, is in active charge of the kennels, and his ideas, supple· men~ed by Mrs. Hoover's, have been earned out with unusually fine results. .Mrs. Hoover, herself, is an authortty on Chows and as early as 191~ ~as winning blue ribbons in local exhtbtts. H The kennels are adjacent to Mrs cover's home, at 1801 Green Ba; ro~d, and cover a large plot of ground. Ev1dently no expense has been spared to make them as fine as possible Exc.e ptionally. large runways, each on~ havmg a section of turf and a portion of tan bark, are in conjunction with the kennels. There are large shade trees scattered throughout the runways and each enclosure has a com. fortable kennel which the dogs can use if they wish. In the kennel-house, itself, where wh1~h !he dogs are kept at night, cleanliness ts the watchword. Everything is ke,pt. spotless. There is a .IPecial venhlatmg system that keeps the air ever fresh and every kennel is scrubb~d da ily. A special room is provided w1th kennels for pappies and several ~oomy whelping kennels. Adjoining ts the kitchen, where the dogs' food is stored and prepared under the most sa nitary conditions, the grooming room and a large bath. Embodied with the kennel-house ate the quarters of the kennel man sQ that he is always on hand at any time of the day or night. Perhaps one of the most remarkable features of Manchoover Kennels is that they contain specimens of the four known colors .of Chows, red, blue, black and cream. There is probablly no other kennel in America that can show such an array of Chows. The fame of Manchoover Kennels has spread far and wide and requests to purchase some of the puppies Mrs. Hoover occasionally offers for sale, come in from all parts of the world. The high standard of dogs bred at Manchoover is known and appreciated wherever Chow fanciers are. A cordial invitation is extended to att to visit Manchoover Kennels. 1+_...,....,.._.-__.,....,........,.._____,..._._.______.__,.y. . Champion Chita Kwhy, of international fa me, is one of the finest blac'k females in this country. And there are many other dogs of promise at Manchoover Kennels. Recently, besides the animals mentioned, Dark Dolly of Tien Hsia, Frills. Snowberry of Tien Hsia Pecknall Hsu Chih and Rosetta of Manchoover have all won important trophies and there are other fine dogs whtch have never yet been exhibited. Recently Manchoover dogs scored a sweep at the Toledo Kennel Club show, winning all the principal prizes offered. It is stated that this was the first time in Chow history that a single owner took so many honors in a s}ww of this size. This even bettered t.be win of Mrs. Hoover's dogs at the Chow-Chow Club Specialty Show in New York when five of her dogs captured the chief honors of the exhibit . It is interesting that at this famous exhibition Manchoover dogs were chosen as the best of the three colors, red, black and blue. This was a very remarkable achievement.
