8 WI ,L.M ETTE A SONG OF CHRISTMAS 0 blessed day, long years ago, Whereon the Wise men came With wondering hearts, and eager feet To gaaceful Bethlehem. LIFE December 25, 1925 Schmedtgens Find Venice Unchanged in Its Beauties \Vord was received by WILMETTE LrF~ this week from William Schmedtgen, Wilmette artist, who with his family is touring Europe. Mr. Schmedtgen writes from Venice, enclosing some pictures of beautiful scenes there, and wishing all of Wilmette a fine Christmas. The Schmedtgen home is at 710 Greenleaf avenue. Part of his letter follows: "Am enclosing a few views of Venice taken several days ago. This is a grand old place and one of the few places not changed for 25 years-when we were here last . . . . . . Have made many water color sketches and hope to have something to show when we get back to the well-lighted town of Witmette .... There is very little of a story t-::> write except the unusually cold winter. We had snow yesterday and the tides are so high that the water comes into some of the hotels so you can almost take a gondola to your bedroom. . "We all hope Wilmette will have a fine Christmas and if you see Mr. Orner please tell him we have really been able to cash some of the ex res h k h ld ., p s c {~ s s eh sod us.- h . b . e c me tgens a\ e een. tourmg the beauty spots of Europe smce last September and are expected to return tc Wilmette about the last of April. · In appreciation of your patronage during the past year, we e~tend to each and every one of you Our Sincerest Wishes for a 0 wondrous song of angels, The shepherds . heard from Heaven, Tidings of joy to all the world So gloriously given.
