LIFE 39 Stage Pageant in Chicago for Visiting Elks What is said to be the world's greatest outdoor production and fireworks spectacle ~ill be seen in Chicago at the new Lmcoln Park arena at Sheridan road and Waveland avenue on July 12. The arena is being built with permission of the Lincoln Park commission especially for the production. It i5 "The Paeant. of 1776" held in commemoration of the One' Hundr-ed and Fiftieth Anniversary of American Tndependct1ce. PLAN JOINT PICNIC Ouilmette K. of C. and Catholic Daughters Exj,ect Big Day at Forest Preserve . , BY THE "SCRIBE" Knights of Co lumbus of Guilmette council and Catholic Daughters of America of Ouilmette court will cooperate in stagin g the annual picnic next Sunday, ] uly 11, in Churchill's addition to the fore st preserve at Glenview. A crowd of at least 1,000 is expected and attendance figures may run into the 1,500 class if good weather is on the forecaster's bill-offare. The committee, headed by Deputy Grand Knig ht Frank Kreusch for the Knight s and ~Irs. ).-!itchell Cicchini for the Daughters, report that all neces sa ry arrangements for a complete and intere stin g program have · been made. The advice of ] ack Patterson, famous K ew Trier High school athletic instructor, has been solicited in arranging a couple of new and novel st unt s. The picnic ~ which will he of the "basket" variety, will begin before noon and continue ·w·ell into the evening. There will be luncheon booths on the grove for the convenience of those who don't care to carry their edibles . Coffee, sandwic hes, pop and candy will be dispensed at the C. D. of A. booth. Beside~ the conventional races and the novelty stunts r.e ferred to above, a horse-shoe contest, (to settle the doubt regarding th~ council's champ) will he a big feature. An indoor-outdoor-baseball game will provide the headliner on the entertainment menu. Many Prizes Given A picked team se lected from th e ranks of the <;ingle men will encounter the best nine the married men can muster in what is expected to he a merry hattie. The umpire s will probably he Grand Knight \Villiam Ober- meier and Brother George Hahn. The committee wishes it understood that the members of both organizations should invite not only the members of their families but also their friends, such as fiances ; near fiances, husbands and wives. The best mode of transportation to the grove is, of course, by automobile. Members driving to the scene of activity are requested to carry a full passenge r li st. Arrangements to convey the unfortunate pedestrians to the affair are being made now and anyone who has no definite way vf reaching the grounds should get in touch with Brother Kreusch, telephone Wilmette 1757. At the present time assurance can be give n that Brothtr A I Weeks will donate his truck in order to make a schedu led bus trip from the Odd Fellows' hall at 11 o'clock Sunday morning.
