Jerome Cicchini earned the right to meet Corns in the finals by defeating George Thelan 7-5, 6-8, 6-4, in the second round. Ci~chini drew bye in the first round. Jim Corns had a comparatively easy time winning from Jack Ludwig 6-0, 6-2, Arnold Lindstrom 6-0, 6-0, and Joe Dempsey 6-4, 6-2. Cicchini proved to be the dark horse of the tournament. It was generally conceded that Junior Corns would come out on top rn the upper bracket The finals were well played, in fact the whole tournament was both interesting and exciting. Jim Corns gained an early adyantap;e by winning the first two games Ill qu1et order. Cicchini. won the next two games by deuce scores, but Corns came back and took three games to make the score S-2. Cicchini won his service making the score S-3. The ninth game went to deuce twice but Corns service won for him. The score of the first set was 6-3, in Corns' favor. Corns' point score showed an imp rovement in his game.
