For the information of Wilmette Park District tax-payers, residents and business men, Vista del Lago submits the following five outstanding developments: (1) Vista del Lago and its high ideals as a social club "for every member of the family every day of the year" was commented on favorably by every speaker (on either side) including several leaders ·of the special assessment park projec~. (2) That millions of dollars may well be involved in a prohibitive-cost special as· sessment proceedings, rather than the insignificant amount first suggested by the park projectors, became a matter of public knowledge and concern to Wilmette t.ax-payers. The FACT officially was established that KENILWORTH tax-payers are not in any 'vay bound or liable by special park assessments of the Wilmette Park District Board, and thaf any small group of men attempting to pledge voluntary special assessments from several thousand Kenilworth tax-payers were speaking without the slightest legal authority for enforcing such special contributions. (3) ( 4) The question of the desirability of a public park, paid for in special assess· ments exclusively by Wilmette tax-payers, and enjoyed by tens of thousands of non· contributing motorists from Chicago and its West Side, ·was warmly discussed. Last and most important, notice was given the Wilmette Park District Board by a Wilmette Tax-Payer that a petition was NOW IN CIRCULATION among Wilmette tax-payers orotesting against any special assessment visionary park pur· chasing proposal, indicating publicly for the first time that opinion among those who might be assessed is by no means as unanimous as has been represented in statements .to the press. (5) Vista del Lago submits that the best business judgment of Wilmette tax-paye~s " Vista del will prevail, and that as all the legal and financial facts become known, Lago will continue to be welcomed by north shore residents and its ~lub members as a magnific~nt addition to those substantial improvements that have made Chi· cago's north shore one of the World's garden spots.
