Ordered box sent to Chi~ Guests here all affable. Arose early and joined C. F. on Dec. . fishing trip to Lake . St. Charles in the · Holly Hill Groves. Glad I brought fishing tackle. Landed one six pounder and several smaller ones. C. F. good fisherman. He got one 8 pound bass and a string of 3 and 4 poundus. Great sport. Fish biting good. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. and Mrs. Life Dec. and myself motored to Lake Wales. Had luncheon there. This Ridge count.ry a series of hills and lakes . . Roads are splendid. More shuffleboard in evening under big electric lights. C. F. is enthusiastic about this sport. Some Wilmette people arrived. Met them this morning. Fine folks. Had long chat during morning on Inn porch. Sun bath made us all feel fine. Ladies played croquet. We played shuffleboard with other guests. C. F. figuring on building home here for winter. Has beautiful location in Poinsettia Hills. I 2. Motored to C. F.'s grove in the Holly Hill Groves. He has a fine grove. He says trees are . finest he has ever seen. We all went to my grove. Picked more oranges and grapefruit. Weather conditions fine. No overcoats. Played 3 6 holes on lawn putting green with C. F. Beat him 2 strokes. Feeling better than ever. Eat lots of oranges. Large basket of them always on hand at Inn. C. F. says best tonic he knows. Mrs. Life now playing shuffleboard with Mrs. C. F. Davenport Yacht Club gave dance in evening, which we attended. Fine crowd and good music. Everybody congenial. Dec. 9· Greeted some old Chicago friends Dec. this morning who arrived last evening. Like home. Introduced them to lawn shuffleboard.
