February 25, 1927 WILMETTE LIFE 45 The Diary of·"E. Z. LJFE" Wintering at DAVENPORT, FLORIDA · HOLLY HILL INN, DAVENPORT, FLORIDA I have been telling you about my wonderful visit at Davenport~ and above is the picture of the Holly Hill Inn at Davenport, as it stands today, where r have made my home and headquarters. I am not exaggerating a bit when I say that in all my trips in this country and abroad, I have not found a single hotel that suits me better than this one. Further I will say, and I have a number of my frien~s to back me up, that nowhere have I found a place where the guests are more congenial and sociable. Every minute of my visit here has been the height of delight. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and Mrs. Life joins me in this statement~ as well as other of our friends who are now here. From the moment I open my eyes to greet the bright sunshine~ until I close them with the moon casting its rays into my comfortable room, I find the most that I desire in rest~ recreatiop, health, sport, companionship, hospitality, and comfort. I have basked in the sunshine on the long, wide veranda at the Inn. I have played day For rates and reservations, write or telephone ... and evening on the recreation center of the Inn, where there is a croquet court, shuffleboards, · and pqtting green. I have played on the Holly Hill Golf Course, the most wonderful course in Florida to my way of thinking, and equal to many of our best northern courses. I have bowled on the new lawn bowling green. I have motored for miles over the paved highways of central Florida. I have driven through the Holly Hill Groves, up one hill and down another. I have picked oranges and grapefruit played bridge ~n from my own grove. I have the ·evening with delightful people from various parts of the country. All of this I have enjoyed to my heart's content,_ I can ask no more. I am thoroughly ~'sold" on Davenport, the· Holly Hill Inn, the Holly Hill Groves, the Holly Hill Golf Course, and above all, on Florida itself, its climate, and its wonderful resources. When I recommend the Holly Hill Inn and Davenport to you, I do so with a profound feeling that you will enjoy it as much as Mrs. Life and I have, and it is now up to you to ·m ake reservations and come here yourself. See for yourself. Convince yourself. Come now. WILLIAM G. COLVIN 709 Elmwood Avenue, Wilmette Phone Wilmette . 1149 CHICAGO OFFICE, 58 E. Washington Street Phone Central 0 9 2 2 "E. Z.
