Braun, who passed away at his home on Lake avenue, Thursday, April 14, at the age of 77 years, were held from the home Saturday afternoon, April 16; Rev. James Austin Richards of the Winnetka Congregational church presiding. Burial was _at Memorial Park. Mr. 1Braun was born on the same site at which he passed away, June 20, 1850. At that time the village of Wilmette did not exist as an incorporated community and the home that he knew during his childhood was a log cabin, built by his parents who. com ing fro· ·. manY. settled in this, then practically unsettled territory. He resided with his parents on their farm until he was 21 years of age, at which time he wen.t to ~'ttlton, Illinois. It was in Fulton that he met and married Katie King and to this union in the succeeding years were born thr~e children, Philip, Gertrude and Carl. After a residence of eight years in Fulton, they removed to Aurora where they lived for a period of nine years. At that time they moved to Wilmette, taking up residence in a home built on the same grounds· where the little cabin had stood at the · time of his birth. Here he resided until his death on April 14. Mr. Braun was a carpenter by ' trade. He spent his early years, however, on the farm of his parents and after his return to Wilmette again resumed this occupation. He is survived by his wife and three children. Mrs. Braun, his daughter, Gertrud.e and son Carl are at the present time residing in Witmette. The other son, Philip, lives in Evanston.
