The car put on display hy C. M. McDonald, local Dodge Brothers dealer, is a four-door sedan, an impressh·e looking Ychicle which is said to possess a truly remarkable motor. \Vithin a few ·week s t\\"o additional body types, a four-passenger coupe and a new type of cabriolet roadster \\·ill be added to the new line of "sixes." Elaborate preparation s for the adveilt of the six cylinder cars have been made by Dodge Brothers. Last fall construction work was begun on one of the largest factory buildings in the ,,·orld and throughout the \Vinter and s pring was rushed to completion. Actual production of the six cylinder. lin e was started early in May~ The initial production rate was about 50 cars a day. This has been rapidly qep ping up from week to \\·eek and rl.aily output is now running approximately 200. By the end of June when the t\\'o additional body types will be in production, it will run fully 300 cars a dav. · Tl{c new line of "sixe:-" has been named Dodge Brothers Senior line to di~tinguish it from Dodge Brothers ~tandard line of four cvlinder cars \\"ith which the company itas huilt up ;b world-wide reputation. \Vhile the Senior line embodies nothing freaki sh, either in construction or pcr:formance, it is presetited hy Dodge Brothers as the last word !n romfort and performance for cars in t ,r near thi:. price class Beauty . of J major attributes. One of the most impressive features of the motor is the extremeh· heavv crankshaft and unusually large bear-ing area. The crankshaft is machined all over and weighs 69 pounds. Hea,·ier than is used in any other engine of similar. capacity, it is supported by seven extra large bearings. This fact, combined with exceeding rigidity, results in a smoothness of operation that is said to be excelled by no other car, regardle ss of price. The motor is of the L-head type, chosen by Dodge Brothers engineers because of the simplicity of the valv e I mechanism . and relatively infrequent need of adjustment. The bore is 3Y4 inches and the stroke 40 inches. with 223.98 cubic inche s displacement. It s taxable horse power is 25.35. ~. A·. C.
