Harry Vissering was in Kettilworth last Thursday and Friday on his return trip from Africa. He left late on Friday for Babson Park, Pia., to join Mrs. Vissering, who has been spending the winter there with their son, Norman. Mr. Vissering ·had very interesting stories to tell .gf his adventures in the wilds of the huntinsr grounds of Africa, among them, about a night spent on a raised platform which he and a special guide bad built , for the purpose of watching the native animals come down to a pool for water, after the moon rose. Mr. Vissering and his guide decided to make this trip from the regular camp and, after the moon came up, were rewarded by seeing buffaloes, tigers, lions, zebras and many other animals come through the under brush and grasses to the pool to drink and, while enjoying the unusual sight, they were surprised by the appearance of a herd of elephants. It being a habit of the elephants to reach out with their trunks to the nearby trees and pulling the tree down to eat the tender top-most leaves or branches, Mr. Vissering and his guide were soon amazed to find these huge animals attacking the trees which formed the brace for their platform and they were wondering ~ben they would be toppled over with the foliage when the watchers decided to fire a shot or two. This proved effective arid the herd,_after looking about witb amazement, decided the shots were dan"erous and· turned and left, much to the relief of the observers. Another unusual incident occurred when a lion made a lung~ toward$ .the motortruck in which · they were riding and with open jaws attacked the fender and this fender now bears the · holes where the huge teeth went -MFaight through the· metal. .· IIi ·· of .Airie· · Made in Ten Individual Styles YouWiUWaat Several at This Price WASil F.ROCK,S ~ Through ·the Onnbination XX Plan We Haw &cured Theile AttraCtiw l .
