When in doubt about a site for your club just go ahead and s~lect a spot on the north shor~. · That i!l br~ef seems to be what is happenmg lD these days of bigger and better club- · dom. , There never has been the call for clubs in such volume as at the present time, and the Chi~agoans ~ho form the nucleus for vanous org!lntzations which have been formed m the last couple oi years or who are forming newer organizations certain~y have shown discrimination in selectmg the section in which they desire to go. The cry has been "To the North," an~ that's the thing that prompts th1c; story. Here are a few names in clubdom, which isn't exactly news, because these clubs many months ago announced their plans and are ready to start construction of pretentious clubhouses: Shawnee club, at Michigan and Lake avenues in Wilmette, Vista del Lago club on the lake in No Man's Land, and Breakers Bt:~ ch club on the lake in No Man's Land. These are only a few, for almost monthly we hear of some new club which is to locate on the north shore. Hatllloa ArmThe latest we hear about is the Haddon Hunt and Hurdle club, a brand new organization which is to locate in Lake County to the north of our fair villages. This is to be a $1,000,000 organization. The Haddon Hunt and Hurdle ·club, named for Col. W. C. Haddon, ranking officer of the 84th divis1on, U. S. army, who is developing it, will occupy a 350 acre tract on both sides of the Des Plaines river, about seven miles north of Libertyville. . Architect Charles D. Faulkner of Chicago has designed a group of club buildings which we believe will rank with anything of its kind in the country. Just take a peek at the pictures of it in the adjoining columns and see if you don't agree. Tweaty Acre Polo Faeld Ground plans call for a twenty acre polo field, a three mile bridle path, space for trap shooting, an artificial lake big enough for match outdoor hockey games. an eighteen hole golf course, ek. The main club building, designed in the English Tudor style, wiU follow the old English manor house idea: The main lounge and ballroom will be 48x75 and over two stories in height, designed after the manner of an English baronial ballroom. The ceiling will be formed by the roof . truss~s in wa~ut and·. rich polychrome colormg. HE QUEST of a good home T leads one quite logically to the North Shore. By the same logic of selection, it becomes merely a matter of course that so many families are finding exactly the right type of good home through consultation with Charles Norman Manager of Mouatt-Fiaherty Co. Announcement is made that Charles R. Norman has been appointed manager of the · Wilmette Realty office of Mouatt and Flaherty on Wilmette avenue. Mr. Norman also has been admitted to membership in the firm. In accepting the appointment Mr. Norman severed his connection with the E. E. Stults Realty company of Linden avenue, Wilmette.
