Addition to School .. 61""lllil. . . . . ., Approximately 250 parents of Kenilworth school children attended the meeting held last Tuesday night at the Joseph Sears' school for the purpose of effecting the organization of a school Parent-Teacher association. Officers and the executive committee were elected and a constitution and by-laws adopted. Following the organization of the association, Supt. E. L. Nygaard addressed the group in connection with the proposed building of a fireproof addition to the present building which would expand the capacity of the school so as to adequately care for about 500 children. Petitions are now being signed providing for· the calling of a special ~lection to authorize the issuance of bonds to cover the cost of the addition which will be about $140,000. The following officers were elected by the association : Bruce Crandall, president ; Harry Harrison, vice-president; Walter Bottholf, treasurer; Miss Barbara Irwin, secret~ry. The members of the executive committee which was also elected are Mrs. Maurice W. VanArsdale, Mrs. Leslie McArthur, Mrs. Alexander Joslin, Mrs. Oliver Barrett, Mrs. J. Dean Vail, Mrs. Homer Johnson, Grover Hermann, Harry Mons, R. M. Grandstrom, Burt Crowe and Jacques De La Chappelle.· LOSES MOTHER BY DEATH Burton Atwood of 8.19 Elm ttreet was called to Athens, 0., Tuesday, January 24, by the sudden death of his mot'her, Mrs. A. A. Atwood. Death was due to a heart attack. The burial was at Pittfield, Mass. Mr. Atwood returned to Winnetka Tuesday of this week. Public hearings were held by the Wilmette Board of Local Improvements at a special meeting on Tuesday of last ·week on the proposed laying of water supply pipe in Miami road from Iroquois read to Romona road, and the proposed improvement of the first alley north of Washington avenue between Sixteenth and Seventeenth streets. No opposition being accorded either project, resolutions providing for procedure with the work were passed by the board. . The public hearing on the proposed construction of a system of · storm wa· ter sewers, sidewalks and paving in the following streets was postponed until the 'next regular meeting of the board on February 7: Locust road from Lake avenue to Ashlanll avenue, also known as Avoca road ; Miami road, from Lake avenue to Romona road; Shflbona lane from Blackhawk road to south end of Shabona lane; Seminole road from Lake. avenue to Blackhawk road; Seminole road, Iroquois road to north end of Seminole road; Mohawk road from Iroquois· road to Locust road; Iroquois road from Miami road to Seneca road; Iroquois road from Seneca road to Illinois road; Blackhawk road from Miami road to Seneca road; Osage lane from Blackhawk road to south end of Osage lane; Ottawa lane from Blackhawk road to south end of Ottawa lane ; Chippewa lane from Blackhawk road to south end of Chippewa road; Romona road from Miami road to Avoca road.
