Hi .lork P·tetJ·t ....__~.......-......~........................, Several of the north shore's leading citizens are to have prominent parts in the ball and pageant that will climax the Union League club's annual celebration of Washington's birthday in the clubhouse on February 22. The two events have been added for the first time this year to the club's ·annual observance of the first president's birthday. All of the historic personages of colonial days will be present at the festivities, impersonated by members of the club or. their wives and daughters. George and Martha Washington will be there, the first president in the person of Benjamin Franklin Affteck of Lake Forest, formerly of Winnetka, and the original first lady of the nation being impersonated by Mrs. Harrison B. Barnard. Three other of the most famous men of colonial times will be represented by as many Evanstonians, Marquis de Lafayette by A. R. Peterson, Alexander' Hamilton by Newton F. Grey, and Benjamin Franklin by Edward J. Winters, while Mrs. Grey will impersonate · Elizabeth Hamilton and Mrs. Winters will take the part of Franklin's wife, Deborah. John Marshall, · the first chief justice of the United States Supreme court and Mrs. Marshall will be on hand in the persons of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Rossetter of Highland Park. Preceding the pageant and dinner, motion pictures depicting life at Mt. Vernon will be shown.
