Francis Carr Stifter, who resigned a month ago from the pastorate of the Wilmette Baptist church, were adopted by the Wilmette Optimist club at that organization's weekly luncheon Tuesday of this week. The resolutions, bearing the signatures of ] ohn H. Daibes, president; and Raymond C. Klehm,· secretary, read as follows : "The Optimist Club of Wilmette regrets that Reverend Francis C. Stifter is leaving this community, as he has resigned the pastorate of the Wilmette Baptist church. "It has been our privilege to have Reverend Stifter speak to us on various occasions and we feel that his going will be a loss to the community at large. We know that · his counsel will be missed by all with whom he has come in contact as he is a man of purpose and of high ideals. "We as members of the Optimist Club of Wilmette extend to him our most sincere well wishes in his new field. "The above resolution was adopted and authorized signed by the president and secretary on behalf of the Optimist Club of \Vilmette on this sixth day of March, year of 1928." St. Patrick's ·Day to Be · F eative Time at Shawnee Castle bridge will be the feature of the St. Patrick's day party at Shawnee Country club Saturday evening, March 17, one of the gay affairs of the winter season. Dinner will be served at 7 and bridge will follow at 8 :30. The evening car.ds committee, of which Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Fogg are chairmen, is in charge of the evening. Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Fogg are the other committee members, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Irving Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Richter, Mr. and Mrs. Max W. Zabel and Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Farrar. AT BASKETBALL GAME A big delegation of girls from Mallinckrodt High school made a trip to Waukegan last Saturday to see the Mallinckrodt basketball team play the Holy Child team. They were disappointed, however, for the Waukegan team was returned the winner by a .score of 43 to 19. Miss Helen Jans of Evanston refereed the game. After the game the Mallinckrodt students were shown through the Holy Child High school. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lincoln Koontz of 1121 Ashland avenue left Monday for New York from which point they sailed on Wednesday for a month in the Bermuda Islands.
