The cost of laying house drains in the areas of Sixteenth street, Greenwood avenue and Glendenning road affected in the paving program was estimated at $1,351. The cost of the water pipes in the same area is estimated at $1,881. The paving program, it is pointed out, will be coincidental with a similar project being projected in Kenilworth, upon which a public hearing was held last Monday evening. · Public hearings on the proposed paving of the first alley north of Oakwood between Ninth and Tenth streets; and the first alley north of Maple avenue between Fourteenth and Fifteenth streets ; were scheduled by the Board of Local Improvements to be held on April 17. · ChUdretJ S11ve · · Coins for Th11l· Big Circus Da:v Wilmette school children are looking .forward to the afternoon of ' Monday, April 16, when they will be the recipients of an afternoon half holiday to permit them to· see the matinee performance at the Sells..Floto circus in the Chicago coliseum that day. Monday afternoon will be officially designated Wilmette Children's Day · · at the circus, by VIrtue of specJa1 arrangements made by Wilmette Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the attendance of youngsters from this viilage is expected to occupy a considerable portion of the grand stand at the show. Tuesday evening, April 17, will mark another special Wilmette · performance for the grownups, upon which occasion ·several village notables, including Village President Orner and various other officials will be seen mounted high u.p on elephants in the parade and otherwise cutting capers in the big three ring circus. A portion of the proceeds from the two performances will go into the · Eastern Star fund for trhe new organ in the Masonic temple.
