Do you realize that only forty per cent of the voters of Cook County exercise their privilege of voting? This means that approximately twenty-one per cent of the electorate control the elections in this county. We, members of the American Legion, should remember our pledge as outlined in the preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion, in which we pledge ourselves to foster and perpetuate one hundred per cent Americanism, and also to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation. If this pledge means anything, it most certainlv means that we should exercise the privileges and perform the duties set out in the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the State of Illinois. Let your conduct as a citizen and patriot be exemplary. Vote and urge every eligible voter to go to the polls. Every eligible voter must vote if our ~overnment is to function as it was planned. How are political leaders to determine the wishes of the majority when a minority of the voters put the candidates into office? Don't pass the buck in this duty of citizenship. METTe Lin: : Will .you kindly make the following correctron : In reporting on the Christmas seal prizes, ·we said that the total Christmas seal sales for 1927 amounted to ,1.675.40 for Kenilworth, the sale being m charge of the ] oseph Sears School. The amount should have been $1,406.91. By some accident we gave last year's figures. The correction is important because Wilmette raised $1,469.49 and consequently is ahead of Kenilworth on its total. . The Joseph Sears per capita is $3.99 mstead of $4.76. · We are glad to say, however that this necessitates no changes i~ the school prize as reported. Both totals a:e very fine indeed and the communitres have reason to be proud of them. Cordially yours, Jane Hufford, Chicago Tuberculosis Institute.
